NEW YORK: The Olympic Club, five times the host of the US Open, was named by the US Golf Association on Saturday as host of the 2021 US Women's Open.
The 76th edition of the women's major championship will be played June 3-6 at the historic San Francisco layout, which opened in 1927.
The course's first major came in 1955, when Jack Fleck upset Ben Hogan in an 18-hole playoff, and 11 years later Billy Casper outlasted Arnold Palmer in a Monday playoff after Palmer squandered a seven-shot lead over the final nine regulation holes.
Other US Open winners at The Olympic Club include Scott Simpson in 1987, Lee Janzen in 1998 and Webb Simpson in 2012.
"We are thrilled to bring the US Women's Open to The Olympic Club for the first time," said USGA vice president Diana Murphy.
Olympic will become the 12th US course to host both Opens, a list that also includes Oakmont, the site of this year's US Open.
