LYON: Experienced fullback Jeremy Morel became Ligue 1 runners-up Lyon's first signing of the close season on Monday, bringing him in from Marseille on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old -- who made his name at Lorient before spending four seasons at Marseille where he won the 2012 League Cup -- will bolster the squad who will also have to contend with a Champions League campaign next term.
"I had overtures from clubs abroad but the sporting plan at Lyon really pleased me," said Morel.
"That is what proved to be the deciding factor."
Michel Aulas, Lyon president and who has spent fortunes on the club down the years which brought them among other trophies seven successive league titles, said Morel's experience would prove invaluable.
"Jeremy has the characteristics of the type of experienced player we need to help along the young team we have," said Aulas.
Aulas added he would be looking to recruit both a top class forward and central defender, not necessarily from his domestic rivals.
