imageSYDNEY: Injury concerns rose over Australia captain Mile Jedinak after he appeared in a moonboot on Saturday, a day after his team's 4-1 Asian Cup win over Kuwait.

TV pictures showed the Crystal Palace midfielder with the injury-stabilising boot on his left leg as the squad left Melbourne to fly to Sydney for Australia's second game.

Coach Ange Postecoglou had earlier played down worries over Jedinak, who twisted his left ankle late in the first half against Kuwait but played on.

He was optimistic that his talismanic skipper would play a part in Australia's second Group A game against Oman on Tuesday, but insisted the tournament hosts could cope if not.

"The medicos will have a look at it but hopefully it's nothing that will keep him out," Postecoglou said.

"But the pleasing thing is we have got a few guys on the bench that are pretty experienced and good footballers who are going to be ready to go on Tuesday night.

"So if anyone can't back up, we have got some real options."
