LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday fined all rounder Abdul Razzaq Rs 100,000 for his out-burst against skipper Mohammad Hafeez after World Cup T-20 cricket tournament in Sri Lanka.
"I have accepted PCB's decision and I feel sorry on this incident which brought bad name for Pakistan ",said Razzaq at a news conference along with Hafeez here on Friday at Gadaffi stadium. Before the start of the press conference PCB?s spokesman, Nadeem Sawar announced that Razaaq has been fined Rs 100,000 ( us dollars 1050) for his breach of players code of conduct. He said the all rounder was served a show cause notice for his criticism on Hafeez. Razzaq has apologized for his act,he said.
He said Razzaq and Hafeez appeared before the PCB chairman after which Razzaq accepted his mistake and once again sought apology for what he termed " a mistake which should not have happened." "I accept my mistake for breaching the code of conduct,"Razzaq said adding "I accept the punishment (fine) and assure that such a incident will not happen again."
"I never had any problems with Hafeez and I accept that my criticism against him was unfair",he said.
Hafeez spoke very high about Razzaq describing him his elder brother and a senior player. "Whatever happened was unfortunate and now a part of past and I have left it behind for new beginning ",he said.
Hafeez said he has always supported Razzaq as a team member as he is senior in age and experience as well . "It is time to move forward for the betterment of Pak cricket team."
The Pak cricket captain in the end said the decision to drop Razzaq from the team which played the semi final was his but of the entire team management.
