The first Day of the second Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand at Hamilton was marred by rain, as the game was stopped after only 21 overs with the hosts managed to score 77 runs at the loss of 2 wickets, before the day was washed out by rain.
At the moment it is too early to derive any conclusion, however, New Zealand batting Coach Craig McMillan rising high on his team performance in the first Test match believes that the Kiwis got the upper hand.
"It was favourable conditions for the bowlers, so I thought the way we played took the wind out of their sails to be fair," McMillan said, reported ESPNcricinfo.
"We were very positive and decisive in that first session. I thought our guys - especially Ross Taylor - were pretty harsh on any width that was offered up, and he made the most of it."
McMillan statement did carry some weight after the New Zealand despite losing early wickets early on, remained aggressive throughout the day hitting 38 runs in the last six overs.
Whereas, for Pakistan who had a must win game on hand were simply unable to exploit the bowler-friendly conditions on offer, a green wicket and heavy cloud cover. Among all the seamers only Mohammad Amir, none were looking to threaten the New Zealanders.
