imagePakistan Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq climbed one spot to reach at the 10th spot in the latest rankings for Test batsmen released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday.

Misbah’s ascend comes after impressive batting displays against England last month, which proved vital for Pakistan that became the number one Test side for the first time after a 2-2 series draw on the English soil.

Veteran Pakistani batsman Younis Khan maintained his grip at the fifth spot in the rankings, becoming the highest ranked Pakistani batsman, thanks to his blistering double ton at the Oval, last month. However, Australian captain Steve Smith ruled the rooster, being the top ranked ICC Test batsman for the second month.

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain and its best batsman has improved one place on the ICC's latest test rankings to second on the list.

In the bowling department, South African pacer Dale Steyn retained the title of the world’s best Test bowler. Pakistan’s Yasir Shah was placed at sixth with no other Pakistani bowler in the top 10 list.

India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who reached second position among bowlers after Man of the Match performance against New Zealand, helping India achieve a 197-run victory by claiming 10-225, could overtake Steyn.

He is now within seven points of number-one ranked Steyn, who leads the ICC Player Rankings for Test Bowlers with 878 points.
