In doing so, the former Kiwi superstar has replaced Pakistan’s Azhar Ali, the move by the Lahore Qalandars management has surprised most cricket fans in the country. “We are proud to announce our Captain and Mentor for PSL 2 will be Brendon Mccullum. We welcome him to the #QalandarsClan#DamaDamMast,” read the tweet statement from the Lahori team.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed, who at current is the director cricket operation for Lahore Qalandars, informed that besides captaincy duties, the Kiwi player would also mentor juniors of the team, reported local media.
”McCullum along with leading the side, will also be the batting mentor for Lahore Qalandars. We have taken this decision to improve and enhance the chances to perform better in the second edition of PSL which is scheduled in February next year,” he said.
It is pertinent to inform that although being the most hyped team of PSL, Lahore Qalandars were unable to make a mark in PSL last year, which was later won by Misbah’s Islamabad United.
