Following the ongoing series against England, Pakistan Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is facing questions about his future before the final match of a Pakistan Test series.
“This is a very important match for Pakistan team and for me,” Misbah told reporters here at The Oval ahead of the fourth and final Test.
“Obviously they have the momentum and will be playing in their own conditions. But I believe that we can come back at any stage. It is a do-or-die Test match for us and we will have to give our best,” stressed Misbah who is hoping that somehow Pakistan will counter rampaging England to level the series 2-2.
Despite winning the first Test at Lord's, Pakistan find themselves in a must-win situation after losing the second and third Tests. While Misbah admits that the home side will be having momentum on their side, he is still confident of turning things around in order to square the series. "Yes, of course, it is a crucial Test for us," he said. "A win will square the series and it will be really good for morale, also for the team, and it is very important for me also.
"Obviously they have the momentum in their own conditions, they are confident but we believe we can come back from any position because this is a do or die Test match for us so we have to really play well."
Without naming any names, Misbah said that there are a few players in the team, who, if they click, can boost Pakistan’s chances of winning the last Test.“There are some players from whom if we get contributions we will have a very good chance of winning this Test,” he said indirectly referring to the likes of senior batters Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez.
However, Misbah is well aware of how important he is to his side and remains confident he is the right man to steer Pakistan into the future.
