England have decided to prolong the services of Pakistan’s legendary spinner Saqlain Mushtaq after his coaching skills were appreciated by all-rounder Moeen Ali calling him “great coach and a great guy”.
Following their successful outing against Pakistan at Old Trafford, England have decided to use the services of Saqlain once again as spin-bowling consultant, Trevor Bayliss, England's head coach, confirmed on Tuesday, Cricbuzz reported.
The former off spinner, who has 208 Test wickets against his name, has previously worked in a similar capacity with West Indies and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Saqlain faced severe criticism from some sections of Pakistani cricket fans for taking the England job.
Saqlain, who is also referred to as the inventor of ‘doosra’, had joined the English camp during the second game of the four-Test series at Old Trafford to aid England's spinners and help the home batsmen in their playing of slow bowling.
As a result, Moeen Ali made a remarkable comeback bagging five wickets in the second Test.
The third Test match of the four-match series will be played at Edgbaston on Aug 3.
