imageAfter facing a devastating loss at Lords, the English team has fired back and has taken a firm grip on the Old Trafford test, all thanks to a phenomenal batting display, with Joe Root double ton causing most damage to Pakistan.

The batsman was naturally pleased with his performance, “It was very satisfying, very pleasing to finally go and make one count,” said Root, who twice got himself out during Pakistan’s 75-run win in the first of a four-Test series at Lord’s last week, reported the local media.

“They were poor dismissals [at Lord’s], and I’ve worked very hard this week to try and take them out of my game — and given the opportunity, to make it count,” the 25-year-old Yorkshire man added.

“That’s why I was so revved up when I got to 200, because it was a lot of hard work paying off.”

"We put a lot of pressure with the new ball [on Pakistan] and the guys after that took the rewards," said Root. "The way the guys bowled was fantastic."Pakistan will keep looking at the scoreboard. They've got a big mountain to climb,” BBC Reported.

Joe Root hits second Test double-century in dominant display. Joe Root made a career-best 254 and Chris Woakes took three wickets as England dominated Pakistan in the second Test at Old Trafford.

Pakistan was bowled out for 198 in response to England's 589/8 declared with Misbah-ul-Haq scoring a fifty. England extended their advantage over Pakistan as they ended day three 489 runs ahead.

Pakistan was dismissed for just 198 in reply to England's 589 for eight declared – a huge deficit of 391 runs.
