Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced to appoint Mushtaq Ahmed for Test series and Azhar Mehmood for One Day International and T20 matches as bowling coaches for England tour.
Mushtaq, the former leg-spin bowler who is currently working as head coach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, has been included in the touring party as assistant coach for the four-Test series which will get underway at Lord’s from July 14.
Mahmood has a contract with English county Surrey as a player, which ends in July. While, Mahmood, who played for Pakistan from 1996 till 2007, was appointed as the national side's bowling consultant for the ICC World T20 in India earlier this year that ended in Pakistan's premature exit.
Mushtaq will be replaced by former allrounder Azhar Mahmood for the subsequent one-day and T20 series on the tour, while Australian Steve Rixon was also appointed as fielding coach to lift dwindling fielding standards. As per reports, Rixon was appointed on the recommendation of head coach Mickey Arthur, who was brought in last month after Pakistan's disastrous World Twenty20 in India where it failed to reach the semi-finals.
Pakistan team will play four Test matches series from July 14 in England after which, five ODIs and one T-20 to be played.
