Pakistani cricket umpire Asad Rauf has been banned for five years by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), after he was found guilty of "misconduct and corruption".
According to Times of India, "Mr. Asad Rauf has been banned for a period of five years from umpiring or playing or representing cricket in any form or anyway being associated with the activities of the Board and its Affiliates," the BCCI said in a statement after the meeting.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) met today 12th February 2016 at the BCCI HQ, Cricket Centre, and Mumbai. Mr Asad Rauf did not appear before the Committee but had sent his preliminary submissions on 15th January 2016 and written statement on 8th February 2016," BCCI said in a statement, Times of India reported.
He has officiated in 49 Tests, 98 ODIs and 23 T20 internationals. Last month, spinner Ajit Chandila was banned for life and batsman Hiken Shah for five years after being found guilty of corruption.
