Today, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced squad for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.
Surprising Pakistan have picked left-arm Rumman Raees and dropped opener Ahmed Shehzad for this month’s Asia Cup and World Twenty20.
Besides, Umar Gul Muhammad Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood were also dropped by the PCB for the mega events while Muhammad Nawaz and Rumman Raees were included after they performed exceptionally well in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super league (PSL), for ‘Quetta Gladiators’ and ‘Islamabad United’ respectively.
However, Test opener Khuram Manzoor as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan approval for the 15 member squad for upcoming ICC World T20 (T20) in India and Asia Cup.
Shahid Afridi will lead the national T20 squad. The T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh from February 24 to March 6 followed by the T20 World Cup in India from March 8 to April 3.
However, the final squad for both events is as follow: Shahid Afridi (capt), Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Khurram Manzoor, Rumman Raees.
