ISLAMABAD: Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas on Monday said he doesn't see the determination and the willpower to win in the green-shirts like was seen in the Bangladeshi team.
Talking to APP, Abbas said the winning willpower he saw in the Bangladesh team was lacking in our players. "Currently I don't see a match winner in our side which is very disappointing," he said.
Abbas said our players don't put a hand to the catches that come to them. "I don't know where the game plan is missing, is it the players or the coaching staff," he said.
Abbas said the coaches are only there to train and advise the players whereas it's the players who have to put the plan into action on the field. "Youngsters should be groomed and given chance in the team," he said adding the Twenty-20 World Cup is next year and we should start its preparations now.
Speaking about the Zimbabwe's tour to Pakistan, Abbas while backing the tour urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to rope in other test playing nations immediately after this tour ends as all eyes would be set on this visit.
Abbas said the Zimbabwe's tour to Pakistan will absolutely prove successful and will help in reviving international cricket in the country. "After the Zimbabwe team's tour, PCB should rope in tours against the other international sides as I believe a lot of teams would be interested in visiting Pakistan," he said.
Abbas said this is very good news for all our players who have been desperately waiting to play in their homeland. "The PCB should make the most out of this tour, as it the first Test playing nation who is touring Pakistan since 2009," he said.
Abbas said he wished except Lahore, the PCB had kept matches against Zimbabwe in other cities as well, as not only the players but the whole nation is dying to see international cricket in Pakistan. "Karachi, Rawalpindi and Islamabad were some good options," he said.
