LONDON: India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara is set to join Derbyshire for the final three County Championship fixtures of the season, it was announced Saturday.
The 26-year-old made 81 against the Midlands county in a tour match but struggled in the ensuing 3-1 defeat by England in a five-Test series, where he made 222 runs at an average of 22.20 with a top score of 55.
However, Pujara has a career Test average of just under 50 and he said: "I'm keen to play as much cricket as possible in England this year and I'm looking forward to joining up with Derbyshire at the beginning of September."
Derbyshire are currently seventh in the Second Division of the Championship, two places off the bottom.
