imageLAHORE: Pakistan cricket teams head coach, Waqar Younis has said that the team will be aiming to play Sri Lanka with a mind-set of victory.

"It is a very important series, a step forward to prepare for the World Cup and we will be having victory in our mind when we take on Sri Lanka later this month ", he told reporters here on Monday at a news conference ahead of a training session to prepare the team for the tour of Lanka.

He said the final strategy to take on Lanka will be designed after having a look at the nature of wickets in Lanka. "We will be taking into consideration every aspect before every game to come up with a combination and a match plan capable of fetching good results ",he asserted.

The former captain sounded confident when asked about Pakistan's pace battery. " We have pace bowlers of good quality including Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan and Mohammad Talha and they are ready to add fire in our pace bowling and then we have Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rehman who are top-quality spinners to shatter opponents batting line up ", he added.

He said undermining the strength of Lanka in their own back yard will be a mistake and the hosts have the ability to upset fancied opponents. "It is going to be a very interesting series and we need a good professional approach to achieve our set goals which is only possible when all the players rise to the occasion ",he added.

To a question he said the team will go all out for a win , irrespective of the aggressive or defensive strategy. " When you aim success you set side everything, except the spirit of the win ", he said.

Waqar said reliance on any specific department (bowling or batting) to inspire the team to success is not a fair through as collective efforts are needed to achieve success.

Answering a question he said Pak team will be playing three important series ahead of the Cup at neutral venues and playing against New Zealand and Australia will add to the confidence of the players besides helping the team to prepare for the mega event.

He said the players are working hard in the training camp and they have not nothing to do with the affairs of the Pakistan Cricket Board or happenings in the Board.
