KARACHI: Former captain Wasim Akram Tuesday favored appointment of Pakistan coaching staff for the national cricket team.
"In my personal opinion, national team should have coaching staff from Pakistan," he told reporters at the inauguration of fast bowling coaching camp held under the auspices of Customs Cricket Academy.
"These are purely my personal opinion," Wasim Akram, who is also the member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed committee to look after the appointment of Head, Batting and fielding coaches for the team, pointed out,
He said apointee coaching staff should have the complete plan for the 2015 World Cup being staged jointly by Australia and New Zealand next year
Besides Wasim Akram, two former Pakistan captains and senior officials of PCB Intikhab Alam and Javed Miandad and PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed are member of the committee.
PCB have invited applications for the appointment of Pakistan team's Head Coach alongwith Batting and Fielding coaches of the team.
PCB have invited the applications for Pakistan team's coaching staff as two-year tenure of chief coach Dav Whatmore and fielding coach Julian Fontein is expiring next month.
Wasim Akram said besides serving the national team, this panel of coaches should also look after and grooming Pakistan's junior teams.
