ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's former fast bowler Aaqib Javed, has said that Pakistan team should have batted first after winning the toss in the first ODI against South Africa.
Talking to a private news channel, Former bowling coach expressed his disappointment and said that he was shocked when the Pakistan captain invited the Protease to bat first.
On a flat track, Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and decided to bowl first which was surprising as the Green Shirts are not considered to be very good when it comes to chasing targets, and that is why the hosts took full advantage of the conditions, posting a massive total of 315 runs on the board", he added.
Aaqib thinks that Misbah and company should have batted first as spin was Pakistan's strength because the visitors included four spin bowling options in the playing eleven who were Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.
He said that Pakistan played poor and disappointing cricket in the 1st ODI. Team played with just two seamers, Umar Gul and Junaid Khan, which was another poor decision by the team management.
The former fast bowler believes that the pacers have a huge role to play in the South African conditions, especially with two new balls at each end.
The second ODI is going to be played on Friday at Centurion. Pakistan's fans would be hoping for an improved performance to square the battle.
