imageKARACHI: Pakistan team got the golden opportunity to seize the 2-Test match series against Australia by maintaining their, focus, momentum and firepower.

These observations were made on Tuesday by former Test left arm spinner Iqbal Qasim in an interview here with APP.

"These kinds of golden opportunities doesn't come your way too often. So Pakistan team seize golden chance," he stressed.

"Pakistan team was outstanding in batting and bowling and they outplayed Australians with their brilliant display," he said.

However, he said, Pakistan team needed to improve their catching if they wanted to win the second Test and the series.

"Pakistan won the first Test by wide margin and our team should consolidate their position by winning the second Test," he said.

"A great deal of effort, tactics and planning is required to once again down the team from Down Under, he commented.

"Personally I feel that Australian chief coach Darren Lehman must be on the drawing board to look into the causes of his team's defeat." former chief selector, said.

"Keeping up the scenario, Pakistan must go into the second Test with renewed effort to make it 2-0," he said. It will be big task but could be achieved.

"Aussies are tough customers and they will be targeting Younis Khan," he said.

Iqbal Qasim said Younis Khan was Pakistan team's batting pillar in the first Test and Australian bowlers will be after him.

He said centuries by Ahmed Shahzad and Sarfraz Ahmed were encouraging. But Hafeez's batting form is bit worry.

Iqbal Qasim praised great bowling by Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah.

"Apart from Younis' batting, spin duo of Zulfiqar and Yasir bowled remarkably well on a turning track," he concluded.

The second Test of the series starts at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
