imagePESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa No. 1 Qainat Khan and national Under-15 silver medalist Iqra guided Frontier College for Women to clinch the trophy after defeating Girls College Tajo Bibi, Charsadda in the final of the Inter-College Girls Table Tennis Championship played under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here at indoor hall of Hayatabad Girls College on Tuesday.

Principal Hayatabad Girls College Shabnam Ikram was the chief guest on this occasion. Organizing Secretary Raham Bibi, Salma Farooq Khan, officials, players and large number of college spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling final.

The first singles was played between Qainat Khan and Sana Gul. Both the players were stretched to five sets battle. Sana Gul of Girls College Tajo Bibi won the first two games by 7-11 and 10-12 but Qainat Khan staged a strong comeback winning three consecutive games by 11-9, 14-12 and 11-9 by taking the singles.

It was the second singles in which Iqra Rehman, who recently got silver medal in the 20th National Junior Table Tennis Championship, took no time in eliminating Jalwa of Girls College Tajo Bibi Charsadda by 3-0, the score was 11-4, 11-6 and 11-4 in a one-sided affair.

In the doubles both Qainat and Iqra Rehman defeated Sana Gul and Jalwa Khan of Girls College Tajo Bibi Charsadda by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-6. Thus FCW won the final by 3-0. It was the second title of FCW after winning the Netball trophy.

At the end, the chief guest Professor Shabnam Ikram gave away trophies and cash prizes. She in her brief speech appreciated HED for involving girls in healthy activities. She termed sports activities very vital for the girls students. She advised the girls to take active part in sports along with their academic.
