ISLAMABAD: Pakistan A beat Hamza Shahbaz XI by 60 runs in a fundraising cricket match kept for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Electing to bat, Pakistan A tam scored a total of 205 runs for the loss of five wickets. Sharjeel Khan was top scorer of the event scoring 101 runs.
Sami Aslam scored 58 runs while Babar Azam 13. For Hamza Shahbaz XI, Karamat Ali bagged two wickets while Kamran, Hammad Azam and Umar Akmal grabbed one wicket each.
In reply, Hamza Shahbaz XI was all out on 145 runs. Atif Ashraf 36, Hammad Azam 32 and Umar Akmal 17 were the main scorers. For Pakistan A, Harris Sohail took 3 wickets followed by Anwar Ali 2, Babar Azam 2 and Shahid Afridi 1. More than Rs 20 million was generated from fundraising cricket match.
At the occasion, PML-N Leader Hamza Shahbaz said China will be investing a total of thirty-two billion dollars in the country. Coal projects are being set in Jamshoro and Sahiwal, he said adding a project of solar energy projects to generate 1,000 megawatt is also underway which will give the people cheap electricity.
Hamza Shahbaz said people of Pakistan wants peace in the country and we will demolish all the bad thoughts of the terrorists who want to derail Pakistan. The people who talk about the long march don't want Pakistan to be a better country, he said.
He said Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister Punjab want to make Pakistan a superior and blissful country and for that they are doing their all-out efforts.
While praising the Metro bus Project, Hamza Shahbaz said currently the people of Rawalpindi are facing troubles in moving to places due to the Project but once it gets completed they will be the ones who will be safe and time-saving enjoying the ride. Motorway will be constructed from Karachi to Lahore, he said.
He said Pakistan Army is fighting against terrorism so that our children can remain safe. Ask those mothers who have lost their children in this war, he said.
Provincial Minister for Law Rana Mashhood Ahmed, MNA Malik Ibrar, former MNA Hanif Abbasi and DCO Sajid Zafar were also present on the occasion.
Earlier talking to media Shaib Akthar and Kamran Akmal said every Pakistani should help the IDPs as at this time they are in dire need of help.
This fundraising cricket match is a very good initiative taken by the Punjab Government, they said.
However the people and media were waiting anxiously for Shahid Afridi, but he arrived late in the second innings of the match and went back through the back doors without having any interaction with the media.
Afridi was also presented with a crown by Hanif Abbasi after the match.
