LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said advance and effective measures are needed to deal with natural calamities and minimize the losses.
Presiding over a high level meeting here on Monday, which considered various proposals and measures for coping with natural calamities, he said, there was a need to work in a professional manner in disaster management.
The chief minister said, an effective response mechanism was of vital importance in case of natural disasters and capacity-building of concerned institutions was also necessary requirement.
Shehbaz Sharif said, a trained human resource could play an effective role in disaster management and there should be effective coordination between National Disaster Management Authority and Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
"Better results can be achieved through the use of modern technology in disaster management," he added.
The chief minister constituted a committee and directed that it should review all proposals in consultation with the officials of NDMA.
