ISLAMABAD: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Pir Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi Friday said that a total of 2982 persons were sent abroad for employment by the Overseas Employment Corporation from 2011 to 2013.
In a written reply in the National Assembly during question hour, the minister said, these persons were sent abroad during the period from January 1,2011 to January 1,2013.
He said a total of 1338 persons were sent to various countries through Overseas Employment Corporation in the year 2011. During this period a maximum of 768 persons were sent to Saudi Arabia and 444 to South Africa and rest to other countries.
During the year 2012, he said, a total of 1014 persons were sent abroad for employment, while 630 Pakistanis were sent abroad during the year 2013 by the Overseas Employment Corporation.
To another question, the Minister informed the House that Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development adopted multiple strategies to explore new labour markets in order to facilitate skilled workers and labourers and to find employment abroad.
