imagePESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said on Monday that government was striving hard to bring changes in the system through reformation and streamlining the affairs of public sector institutions.

Presiding over a meeting to discuss development projects and other issues of PK-1 Peshawar City, here, he ordered to constitute a committee comprising District Nazim, Town Nazim-1, district members Raza Muhammad Khan and Gul Bacha for improving the system. The Chief Minister (CM), directed the elected local government representatives to keep eye on the performance of the institutions.

He said that provincial government is taking measures to strengthen the institutions with policy guidelines and ending political interference.

He said that people were enjoying relief after ensuring merit in the recruitment process, reforming patwari system and schools, health outlets and police system.

The CM said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), government was intended to give autonomy to the hospitals for better healthcare facilities to the masses. He added that constitution of safety commission would empower the local government representatives.

He said that a huge fund of 43 billion rupees was provided to local government to achieve the progress. He informed that fourteen thousand new teachers would be recruited in the province.

He said that special attention was being given to the development and beautification to the provincial metropolis.He hoped that Peshawar would emerge as a developed city of the country within two years.

Work is in full swing on the development of roads of the city, he said, adding beautification plan of the G.T Road would be completed in the next two months.

He told the meeting that construction of nine overhead bridges was sanctioned to facilitate pedestrian of the area. Moreover, the CM said that desilting and removal of encroachments from the canals of the city was also in progress.

Khattak further said that the funds were released to construct concrete walls for the safety of police stations. The CM ordered to seal plazas lacking parking facilities. He asked the concerned quarters to provide proper space to the cart pushers to continue their business.

He also directed District Nazim and Deputy Commissioner to review performance of the Municipal Service Project.
