LAHORE: Chief Jamiat Ahle Hadith Senator Prof Sajid Mir called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here Saturday, in which matters of mutual interest and country's situation were discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, sincere efforts had been made in the right direction during two and a half years for coping with the challenges being faced by the country and now Pakistan was more safe, peaceful and economically stable than 2013.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government had promoted new trends of transparency in the public welfare projects and set glorious example of saving national resources of billion of rupees in the public welfare projects.
The Chief Minister said the present government had always given preference to national interests and decisions on important matters had been made by taking political forces into confidence. He said all political forces had to play their positive role for taking Pakistan forward by rising above personal interests.
He said effective steps had been taken under the National Action Plan for eliminating menace of terrorism. He said that decisive war was being fought for eliminating terrorism and important successes had been achieved in it.
Shahbaz Sharif said the country was being purged of terrorists through Zarb-e-Azb operation and 18 crore people of Pakistan were determined to eliminate terrorism and extremism. He said the National Action Plan reflected national commitment for eliminating terrorism.
He stressed the need for promoting sentiments of brotherhood, tolerance and patience in the society. He said, "Ulema have to play an effective role for this purpose as constitution of peaceful society is the dream of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and we all have to materialize it."
Hafiz Abdul Karim MNA, Malik Zulqurnain Dogar MPA and Muhammad Suleman Mangla Amir Baitul Maal Punjab were also present on the occasion.
