imageKARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that postings of police officials on merit and high morale demonstrated by police and other law enforcement agencies' personnel have greatly helped reduce incidents of terrorism and other crimes across the province.

He vowed that the government would continue to provide required financial resources to the police and demonstrate strong political will to cope with terrorism and other crimes. He was addressing a ceremony held at District Police Headquarters -- Khairpur to pay tribute to 115 policemen who embraced martyrdom in line of duty during the last one decade, said an official statement issued here on Sunday.

The Sindh CM also presented shields and appreciation certificates to heirs of the martyred police officials. On the occasion, the Sindh CM joined the police officials and civil society organisations in candle light vigil organised to pay tribute to the martyred police officials.

He said brave and professional police officials deserved much appreciation and reward who had challenged terrorists and dacoits, adding that the Sindh government has recommended award for SSP Khairpur Pir Muhammad Shah who demonstrated strong courage and put his life at stake when he entered a premise inside Karachi airport when it was stormed by a group of suicide bomber about two years back.
