imageQUETTA: Pakistan and Iran on Saturday resolved that they would not allow terrorists to use their soil for attacks on either of the countries and agreed to joint border supervision through latest vigilance equipment to check cross border activities.

The decisions were taken in a meeting of Pak-Iran Joint Border Commission here.

Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah and Deputy Governor of Iranian province of Sistan-Balochistan Ali Asghar Mir Shekari signed on five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in connection with border activities.

Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, Inspector General Police Balochistan Ahsan Mehboob and other officials of the two countries were present on the occasion.

Addressing the joint press conference, the Deputy Governor of Sistan-Balochistan and Balochistan said that the meeting of the Pak-Iran Joint Border Commission reviewed several issues pertaining to border, including security and trade activities.

They said five border markets, including Gabd Gwadar, Taftan, Panjgur, Washuk and Mand, would be established.

The Balochistan Chief Secretary said that the proposal of rail-link between Pakistani port city of Gwadar and Iranian port city of Chahbahar was also discussed.

Security situation along the Pak-Iran border, he said, had been improved and further measures were being taken to tighten security in areas located near the border.

The Deputy Governor of Sistan-Balochistan said the proposed rail-link between Gwadar and Chahbahar would provide Pakistan access up to Europe.
