PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Saturday stressed on the full implementation of the the National Action Plan.
He said had the NAP been implemented fully the Bacha Khan University (BKU) Charsadda incident would not have happened. It was another barbaric incident after the December 2014 Army Public School (APS) massacre.
"We should have learnt a lesson from the APS attack," he added. Talking to the media here at his residence, Sherpao, who is also a former Interior Minister, said that the BKU babaric attack had terrorized both the students and their parents. Therefore, perpetrators of such gory attacks should be brought to justice for ending the environment of fear, he added. He criticized closure of schools and giving arms to teachers, saying this was not a solution to the problem. Such moves would rather terrorize the students further.
The parents as well as the students should be encouraged to discourage the anti-state elements, he added.
Aftab Sherpao said that Pakistan and Afghanistan could jointly defeat the enemies.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people had reservations over the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which should be removed. About 60,000 people had sacrificed their lives and the province's infrastructure was destroyed in the war against terror, he added.
Responding to a question, he said there was need to change the status of Federally Administered Tribal Areas. These areas should be merged in Provincially Adminstered Areas, he suggested.
QWP KP Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, member of KP Assembly Bakht Bedar and secretary information Tariq Khan were also present on the occasion.
