imageKARACHI: US Ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale, called on the Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, here at the Governor House on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by the US Consul General in Karachi, Brian Heath.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the Governor House, said that bilateral relations, investment, on-going situation in the region, successful Zarb-e-Azb operation, and other important matters were discussed at the meeting.

Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad said that the Pakistan-US ties span over several decades with the passage of time there is stability in these relations.

He was of the view that Pakistan-US ties are very important for the region.

The Governor pointed out that two years ago Pakistan faced a very big challenge with regard to terrorism. However, our political and military leadership unanimously decided to rid the country of the menace of terrorism.

Later, he added, under the National Action Plan (NAP), Zarb-i-Azb operation was initiated against terrorists.

The situation today is that a handful of terrorists are not finding refuge in any part of the country and that they are being chased and soon they would be eliminated.

Dr. Ishrat further said that peace in Pakistan is in the interest of the entire world.

He stated that in the wake of restoration of peace in Pakistan, the confidence of the foreign investors has been restored and our trade and exports have also increased a lot and Pakistani products are being appreciated.

The Governor was of the view that after restoration of peace in the province of Sindh and especially in the city of Karachi, the American investors should also benefit from the potential of Karachi.

He suggested that various sectors including projects of water supply and sewerage, energy, agriculture, infrastructure development, health etc are beneficial for investment.

Dr. Ishrat said that business and trade opportunities here are quite profitable.

The US Ambassador said that the entire world appreciates the success of Pakistani Army and people against terrorism.

There is no doubt that Pakistan has offered a lot of sacrifices in the fight against terror.

He stated that action of the Pakistan Army against terrorists, proves that Pakistan is sincere for the elimination of terrorism.

The US Envoy further stated that `Our government is with Pakistan in the action against terrorism'.

He said that there are various sectors in Pakistan where American investors are coming up with investments. The USAID is also working on various projects of public welfare and betterment in Pakistan. These are benefitting people at grassroots level. The people of Pakistan have also acknowledged the benefits of these projects, he added.
