LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan on Monday said the government would ensure peaceful holding of third phase of local bodies elections in 12 districts of the province.
"Foolproof security measures will be adopted to maintain law and order and provide security to the voters on election day," he added.
Talking to this scribe, the Minister said, the government was determined to conduct local bodies elections in a transparent manner and in this regard police and other law enforcement agencies would be put alert to ensure strict implementation of security plan. "All provincial organs will have to perform their duties considering as national obligation for supremacy of law and justice," he said.
Sana said, laws regarding violence free holding of the elections would remain the same as were taken during the first and second phases of LB polls.
"There will be complete ban on displaying and carrying arms, and indiscriminate action will be taken against the violators," he said and added that no one would be allowed to resort to aerial firing or take out rallies to celebrate victory of elections.
He said, the cabinet committee would monitor measures for the implementation of the security plan during third phase LB polls. On the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab, he said, law enforcement agencies had already launched a vigorous crackdown against miscreants.
Answering a question, the Minister said, Rangers would be deployed to assist the district administration at highly sensitive polling stations on election day for peaceful election process.
