imageCHAKWAL: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that only honest and people with high commitment to serve problems of the masses would be brought forward for slot of mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen and deputy chairmen of district councils.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of newly constructed KPSS secondary school held under the aegis of Alaf Noon Parents Foundation at Seghalabad, Chakwal, he said it was the responsibility of the newly elected local body representatives to resolve the basic issues of the masses at their doorstep adding that people have once again shown complete confidence on the PML-N under the able leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

It was agenda of the PML-N to serve the people and it was completely implementing its agenda, he added.

He said in the next phase of local government elections during electoral process of Chairmen and Mayors only that leadership would be brought forward which would provide all basic facilities to the masses, including education, health, clean drinking water besides other basic amenities.

Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme has been launched for the construction and rehabilitation of roads in rural areas of the province under which Rs 50 billion would be spent this year, he added.

The Chief Minister said under a big programme of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads, a huge amount of Rs 150 billion would be utilized for the construction and rehabilitation of roads upto 2018 and this project will strengthen rural economy.

He said that a big programme had also been started in South Punjab for providing clean drinking water to 35 million people in rural areas with an amount of 70 billion rupees during three years.

Shehbaz Sharif said he was pleased to inaugurate a quality school in rural area of Sehgalabad and newly constructed quality classrooms of KPSS Secondary School.

He said Assembly Members and elected representatives of Chakwal particularly philanthropists should come forward and start projects of health and education for the people.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister assured all out cooperation of Punjab government with regard to medical facilities and education in the area and KPSS Secondary School.

Immediately after his arrival, Shehbaz Sharif unveiled the plaque of the school and also talked to small children during his visit to the school.

Patron-in-Chief of KPSS Secondary School Sehgalabad Malik Ashraf Nawabi, in his welcome address, threw light on the details regarding construction of the school.

Senator Lt Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum, MNA Maj (Retd.) Tahir Iqbal, Begum Iffat Liaquat Chaudhry, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Malik Saleem Iqbal, Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Dulha, Mehvish Sultana Raja, prominent banker and social personality Malik Ashraf Nawabi, senior government officers, teachers of the school and elites of the area were also present in a large numbers.
