imageISLAMABAD: Spokesman of the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday said that President Mamnoon Hussain as a symbol of the federation was above politics and had no political motives.

"There is no truth in the reports that the President would lead the PML-N election campaign for the local bodies elections in Sindh", a statement issued from the Aiwan-e-Sadr here said.

The spokesman stated that "in the past President Mamnoon Hussain has for long been active in the politics in Sindh and has wide connections with the provincial leadership and workers due to which a large number of political workers remain desirous of meeting him in their individual capacity."

"Recently, when office-bearers of Sindh PML-N came to Islamabad, they expressed their desire to meet the President on personal and social basis upon which Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif personally requested the President to informally visit the Prime Minister House and meet his former colleagues."

There were no political motives of the President behind that meeting, the spokesman emphasized.
