LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that provision of modern and quality treatment facilities to the common man is the top priority of the government.
Presiding over a high level meeting here on Monday, which discussed matters regarding improvement of medical facilities in hospitals besides reviewing the affairs of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore, he said that there would be no shortage of resources for public health facilities.
He said the PIC was an important institution with regard to provision of medical facilities to the cardiac patients and its standard will have to be restored.
He said that patients not only from Punjab but other provinces also come to the PIC for treatment.
The Chief Minister directed Board of Management of PIC to present a comprehensive plan for further improvement of medical facilities in the institution.
He said that all necessary measures would be taken for strengthening PIC and steps should be adopted with a professional approach for improvement of its image.
Shehbaz Sharif said that construction of a new 100-bed emergency block in the hospital by Friends of Punjab Institute of Cardiology Trust will result in better treatment facilities to the patients.
He said that the new emergency block constructed with the cooperation of philanthropists would help in providing service to ailing humanity and earning the blessings of Allah.
He said that the treatment facilities in all hospitals of the province would be improved. He said that an effective system of check and balance was essential for improving the performance of the institutions.
Amir Fayyaz of Friends of Punjab Institute of Cardiology Trust informed the meeting regarding the pace of construction of the new block and said that work was being carried out speedily on the project of 100-bed new emergency block.
Chief Executive Officer of PIC gave a detailed briefing regarding the measures taken for improvement of PIC.
