ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Tuesday said his ruling on resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers was unquestionable except to rescind it through a motion in the House.
In his remarks during the House proceeding, the speaker said Islamabad High Court (IHC) had also endorsed his point of view over the resignation issue.
"Whenever the Speaker decides or gives his ruling on any matter on floor of the House or in his office on the file, as the case may be, it shall not be called in question, and that shall be final except on a motion for rescinding it," he quoted the relevant rule after PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi reminded the House about ruling of the speaker on the resignations.
Sadiq had given the ruling that personal appearance of each member intending to tender his resignation before the speaker was mandatory.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman remarked on this issue that the seat gets vacated soon after submission of a resignation irrespective of whether it was accepted or not.
He recalled that some parliamentarians including himself and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had submitted their resignations in 2007, which were accepted instantly without any confirmation or investigation.
