imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that like previous years, Punjab government has also given Ramazan package of billions of rupees for providing essential items to the people at cheaper rates during Ramazan-ul-Mubarik this year, under which, quality eatable items, flour, pulses, fruits and vegetables are being provided at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars set up throughout the province.

The chief minister expressed these views while chairing a meeting of Provincial Price Control Committee at Civil Secretariat through video link, in which steps relating to provision of relief to the people in Ramazan bazaars under Ramazan package of Punjab government were reviewed in detail.

Shahbaz Sharif said that aim of setting up of Sastay Ramazan bazaars is to provide relief to common man in the real sense. He said that political and administrative machinery of Punjab have been activated for providing fruits of Ramazan package to common man due to which quality edible items are available to the people at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars in abundance.

He said that a large number of people have appreciated the availability of quality items at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars, upon which, he congratulated provincial monitoring committees and all concerned officials.

The chief minister directed provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, secretaries and concerned officials to continue visits to Ramazan bazaars regularly for ensuring relief to the people during Ramazan-ul-Mubarik and a report should also be submitted on daily basis in this regard. The chief minister said that quality eatable items are being provided in Ramazan bazaars and best arrangements have been made for the facility of consumers in Ramazan bazaars.

He said that the objective of setting up of Ramazan bazaars is to provide relief to the common man and Ramazan bazaars are not for elite rather common man, middle class and lower middle class people come for purchasing, therefore, we have to keep their interest dear. Shahbaz Sharif said that he is personally monitoring arrangements made in Ramazan bazaars and no one will be allowed to play with the interest of the people and exploit them through profiteering.

The Chief Minister appreciated performance of the Cabinet Committee for Price Control on making best arrangements in Ramazan bazaars and said that we have to serve the masses with same spirit and provide facilities to them. He said that serving humanity is not less than worship and we can earn blessings of Almighty Allah through it.

He directed that availability of essential items in abundance should be ensured in Ramazan bazaars and there should be no complaint of shortage of any item from anywhere.

He said that the price of every item should be displayed conspicuously at the stalls in Ramazan bazaars for the facility of purchasers and strict action should be taken against violators.

Shahbaz Sharif while announcing to abolish the condition of showing identity card on purchasing sugar in Ramazan bazaars said that Punjab government has made arrangements more than previous year for providing relief to the people in Ramazan bazaars under Ramazan package during Ramazan-ul-Mubarik this year.

He directed that there should be proper parking arrangements in Ramazan bazaars for the people coming in Ramazan bazaars. He said that fans and air-coolers should also be arranged so that fast observing people should not face any inconvenience. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Bilal Yasin, Muhammad Shafiq, Farrukh Javed, Special Assistant Arshad Jutt, Chief Secretary, Members Provincial Assembly, concerned secretaries and administrative officers attended the meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link.
