imagePESHAWAR: Tough contest is expected between Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf and Awami National Party in the local government elections 2015 as both the parties have awarded tickets to strong candidates for the district and tehsil council members to get maximum seats.

As only four days left in May 30 polls, the candidates of both the political parties have intensified their election campaign by making last efforts to get voters support in the politically fertile Nowshera district.

Tough contest is expected at Union Council/Ward Amankot where Engr Zulfiqar Aziz who recently joined Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf after resigning from Qumi Watan Party and Talawat Khan of ANP on district council seat. Engr Aziz had fought general election 2013 against the sitting Chief Minister KP and loss with few thousands votes by standing runner rup. ANP ticket holder Talwat Khan has also a strong 'Baradari and he can surprise many. On Tehsil member seat for Amankot ward, PTI awarded party ticket to Muhammad Jamil Khan while ANP issued ticket to Muhammad Farooq Khan and tough contest is expected between them due to their strong Baradris and vote bank. Farooq Khan was enjoying the support of former district UC nazim Iftikhar Khan's family and can give surprise results in the constituency.

The Amankot ward is comprising on three villages Amankot, Dheri Mian Ishaq and Choki Darab where people are mostly confronted with the problems of drinking substandard water, poor sanitation, unemployment, poor roads infrastructure, load shedding, non-pavement of streets and lack of quality schools, collages and hospitals facilities.

In the other hand, in Mohib Banda ward, PTI has awarded ticket to former Union Council nazim Qaisar Khan for district council member while ANP has fielded PTI dissident Wisal Khan for this slot. Political observers said neck and neck contest between these two are expected in this union council keeping in view their strong baradris and vote bank.

The major problem of people of Mohib Banda is persistent threat of flooding especially during monsoon season as this village was directly located in river Kabul. The prime demand of people of this ward is construction and protection walls on banks of river Kabul besides improvement of sanitation, payment of streets, water courses, disposal of waste, generation of employment opportunities and construction of bridge over River Kabul to link this areas having over one million population with Motorway through Nista Interchange.

Political observers said candidates with solid program for resolution of these problems would get masses support in local government elections 2015.
