imageISLAMABAD: A sum of Rs 25 billion has been allocated for executing water supply project (K-IV) in Karachi, said Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal Wednesday.

Responding to adjourn motion moved by Nasreen Jalil and Col (R) Tahir Hussain Mashhadi during proceedings of Senate session, he said it had been agreed that the federal government would pay 50 percent of the cost of the project, while rest would be paid by the Sindh government.

The federal government has already released another tranche of Rs 200 million which has not yet been used in executing the project.

He urged Sindh government to pay matching funds for executing the project. The Federal government was ready to pay its share if Sindh government fulfiled its responsibility, he added.

He said Prime Minister has also allocated additional Rs 3 billion for the project.

The Federal government was not responsible for delay in executing the project, he said and added rather the federal government was waiting for the Sindh government to pays matching funds.

Meanwhile, State Minister Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pir Amin-ul-Hasnat made it clear that no change has been made in Hajj form.

He said the column of indicating sect (of each intending pilgrim) was operative for the last 20 years.

Responding to the Point or Order raised by Mohsin Aziz, he said the purpose of the column of sect was to facilitate intending pilgrims of Fiqah-e-Jafria as they want to return to country after performing Hajj before the start of the month of Moharram-ul-Haram.

The ministry asks for ensuring special arrangements for the intending pilgrims of Fiqah-e-Jafria.

State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmed said the government has released the 29 apprehended teachers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Giving details, he said from 100 to 150 teachers of KP had staged protest demonstration in Bani Gala to press for acceptance of their demands.

They also staged demonstration in Islamabad so the capital errested them, he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani referred the issue of officials of Capital Development Authority and Establishment Division who are absent from Senate galleries, to Senate's privilege committee.
