KARACHI: Former President and Co-chairman Pakistan People Party Asif Zardari has directed the Sindh government to improve municipal, health services and education standard in the province.
"I want to see a clean, healthy and wealthy province," he remarked while presiding over a meeting here at CM House on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial Ministers Nisar Khuhro, Sharjeel Memon, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Dr Sikander Mendhro, Chief Secretary Siddiq Memon and other senior officers.
The Chief Minister briefed the party Co-Chairman about the performance of his government.
Talking about the Education Department, he said that over 4000 closed schools have been made functional by providing them teaching and non-teaching staff. "We have given special attention to girl education. This would strengthen women empowerment in the province and it was the dream of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto," he stated.
He told the PPP chief that he had visited Tharparkar more than 10 times. "The Mithi hospital and the hospitals of different talukas of Tharparkar have been equipped with necessary gadgets. In the history of the Thar such facilities have never been provided there but it is the PPP which has served the people of Thar and this service would continue," Chief Minister said.
Asif Ali Zardari directed the Chief Minister to take necessary measures to improve municipal and health services. "You have to provide a healthy atmosphere to the people of Sindh by improving municipal services and like-wise health services are required to be improved. The patients must be provided medicines and lab test in government hospitals free of cost," he said.
He further advised the Chief Minister to give special attention to Education Department so that not a single child might remain out of schools.
He also urged the Sindh government to ensure quality of development schemes. The uplift schemes launched in Sindh must be completed in time so that their benefits could be passed to the people of Sindh.
