LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed petitions challenging appointment of Dr Rizwan Naseer as Director General Rescue 1122.
Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf heard the petitions filed by Shahid Ikram and Faisal Mehboob.
Earlier, petitioners' counsel arguing before the court submitted that Dr Rizwan was appointed in violation of rules. He submitted that neither the post was advertised in the news papers nor Dr Rizwan possess required qualification for the job. He pleaded the court to set aside the appointment being illegal.
However, respondent Dr Rizwan's counsel submitted that Dr Rizwan was included among founding members of the rescue institution. He said that his appointment was made in accordance with the Apex Court verdicts and after fulfilling due legal procedure for the purpose.
The court after hearing the arguments of parties dismissed the petitions.
