imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Sistan-Baluchistan of Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Awsat Hashemi agreed to enhance volume of bilateral trade and investment for the betterment of both sides.

They agreed to establish combined economic zone, exhibitions of tradable products, exchange of business and cultural delegations and joint commission to execute and achieve the goals of economic development.

This was decided in a meeting between Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Iranian delegation led by Governor of Sistan- Baluchistan Ali Awsat Hashemi, said an official statement issued here on Tuesday.

The cabinet members including Senior Minister for Education Nisar Khuhro, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Sikandar Mandhro and officials from Sindh Government attended the meeting.

Rehmasnbaksh Habibi, Commander Border Control, Ali Asghar Keshawarz Moghaddam DG Political and Election Affairs, Nadir Mirshkari head of Industries, Mine and Trade organizations, Mohibali Ghazzah Jahid DG Electric Supply, Abdulhakeem Reegi Mirjavesh President Chamber of Commerce Industries, Mines- Agriculture, Hamiduddin Yusufi, Commissioner Sarbaz Township and Dr. Meeri Vice Chancellor Zahedan University were part of the Iranian delegation.

The Chief Minister said that Sindh produces high quality of rice, fruit, vegetable, halal meat, cotton, wheat and sugar which can be exported to Sistan-Baluchistan and other provinces of Islamic Republic of Iran in exchange for other commodities such as energy/ electricity etc.

He said that in addition to trade and business, the Sindh province has good potential of investment especially in the field of energy, infrastructure, irrigation and education sector.

The Chief Minister invited the investors from Iran to come forward and invest in Sindh and offered them all possible facilities and incentives to make their investment more fruitful.

The visiting Governor of Sistan-Baluchistan Ali Awsat Hashemi, while talking in the meeting said that his province has good potential in agriculture and fisheries sectors.

In addition to that it has good expertise in efficient utilizzation of irrigation water, municipal infrastructure and electricity development.

He said that his country considers Pakistan as an old and brotherly friend country but still there was room for further improvement to upgrade our relations up to the expectations and spirit of the people of both countries.

He said that Iran has completed the pipeline up to 1050 kms under the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project and added that his government was ready for commissioning the project.

He said that Sistan is also ready to export electricity to Sindh and added that it was because of that the head of electricity is accompanying the delegation. He placed the proposal for having combined economic zone and commission to execute and enhance the bilateral relation of volume of trade and business between two province.
