LAHORE: Lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly welcomed the decision by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) to end Islamabad sit-in,and termed it a step towards strong Pakistan.
"Recent sit-ins and protests have harmed the national economy and affected the country's rapid development pace," they observed.
Talking to APP at the Punjab Assembly premises here,the legislators Zaeem Qadri,Rana Muhammed Arshad,Majid Zahoor,Khawaja Imran Nazir,Yasin Sohal,Hina Pervaiz Butt,Azma Bokhari said Pakistan is confronted with multiple challenges and the carnage at Peshawar has jolted the entire nation.
They said the prevailing situation needs complete national unity and Imran Khan's decision to abandon sit-in is highly appreciable as it would help the government in the fight against terrorism.
They said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already announced to lift moratorium on death penalty and the criminals convicted for terrorist activities would be punished for their anti-Pakistan,anti-nation deeds.
