ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Monday said that the Plan C of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was not aimed at promoting chaos and anarchy but causing casualties of the common people.
Talking to the media here, he said he took back his earlier words of C for chaos as the plan was to have casualties. Four people lost their lives in Lahore on Monday due to Imran Khan's politics of agitation and violence, he added.
The minister expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of four lives. He also expressed condolences with the bereaved families.
"Indeed, the moment Imran Khan leaves his Bani Gala residence, he tramples over the corpses of people," he added.
He said the people of Lahore had totally rejected the politics of agitation and sit-ins introduced by the PTI.
He said the Punjab government fully facilitated the PTI but it violated its promise by resorting to violence, closure of roads and shops, and blocking ambulances.
"We have seen at the Multan rally that people were dying but Imran Khan continued his speech. Same was repeated in Faisalabad and D- Chowk Islamabad and today four more people fell victim," he added.
The minister said all this happened due to provocative speeches of PTI's leadership. "The tigers of PTI are in fact wolves."
"Even the PTI workers did not spare media workers. They attacked media teams and misbehaved with Sana Mirza and fellow journalists which is highly condemnable."
He said not a single person had died in the movement for restoration of judiciary and the political movements of other leaders. The PTI, he added, was promoting intolerance and violence in the country.
The minister said it was not the PTI's right to decide which TV channel was good or bad. For the first time in the country's history, workers of a political party were attacking journalists.
Pervaiz Rashid questioned as to whether locking down cities was part of a 'New Pakistan'.
He said the confidence of Lahorites in the PTI had been shattered. Today's agitation annoyed them. That was why they chanted "Go Imran Go", which became the popular slogan in Lahore today. The PTI goons were resisted by the common people masses and not by the PML-N workers, he added.
The minister said commuters, including children and women, faced difficulties as PTI workers forcibly blocked roads and Metro Bus service was also attacked.
He said even close friends and associates of Imran Khan had rejected his call of civil disobedience.
The minister said there was no logic of agitation as the government had already written a letter for the constitution of Judicial Commission on August 13.
Imran Khan, he said, should have announced at that time that he would accept the decision of judicial commission. But he himself was a hurdle in the constitution of commission, he added.
To a question, the minister said the government had not set any condition for the talks with PTI and would continue its cooperation for peaceful solution.
Replying to another query, he said the government would not retaliate PTI's misadventures with any adventures. "The main theme of Imran's politics is promoting politics of hatred and dead bodies."
He said Imran's workers stopped ambulances to reach hospitals, blocked roads so that no government official may attend office and forcefully closed shops. Was it a picture of new Pakistan? he asked.
The dialogue with PTI, he added, would continue as it were the people in Lahore who resisted the PTI, not the PML-N workers.
