ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that government was committed to ensure and protect independence of media.
The minister, in a statement, condemned the attack on Geo News reporter Amin Hafeez and misbehavior with lady anchor, Sana Mirza.
He said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had already taken notice of the incident and directed the Punjab Chief Minister to take action against the culprits.
The government, he said, believed in freedom of expression and would do its best to create a conducive environment for the media so that they could perform their duties in accordance with their professional ethos.
