imageISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project Chairman Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said that the construction work on the multi-billion mass transit scheme would hopefully be completed by January 30, next year.

The project, initiated on March 23 this year, executed at a cost of Rs 44 billion, will be completed in around 10 months to provide speedy and dec ent transport service to the residents of the twin cities.

He said that project would be completed by January 30, 2015, at any cost. "The project was initially supposed to be completed by December 31, 2014 but due to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) sit-ins, pace of work on the said project was badly affected.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain Rtd Zahid Saeed said that the business community should not pay attention towards the baseless rumours regarding delay in completion of the metro bus project.

According to a statement issued here, the Commissioner exchanged these views while talking to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) President, Syed Asad Mashadi, during his visit to the chamber.

The commissioner said that government is fully aware of the problems faced by the business community and every possible measure will be taken to complete the project well in time.
