imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Saturday said that Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) is the custodian of merit and a testimonial forum for the talented youth of the province.

It recommends them for the government jobs purely on merit, without any discrimination, he said.

According to an official statement here, the Chief Minister was talking to Chairman, Sindh Public Service Commission, Justice (Retd) Dr Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan who called on him to present the annual report of the SPSC for year 2013 here at the CM House.

Sindh Chief Minister said that PPP government believes in providing more jobs to the youth but purely on merit and without any discrimination. The government has strengthened SPSC enough to ensure that all appointments in Sindh Government departments are made on merit.

He said that Sindh possesses great talent and stressed on the Chairman SPSC to expedite the testimonial process of the Commission and try to dispose off all pending recruitment proposals of the government departments not only to fulfill the organisational requirement but also pave the way for job opportunities to the talented youth of the province.

Earlier, the Chairman, Sindh Public Service Commission presented the Commission's annual report for the year 2013, covering its performance and activities from January 2013 to December 31, 2013.

The report reflects the recruitment activities of the Commission including facts and figures of various examinations and tests, interviews, administrative difficulties and financial issues.

It also includes a plan and recommendations to improve the system and achieve greater transparency, proficiency, reliability and effectiveness.

It also provides the future plans envisaged for the establishment of Guidance and Counselling Centre, General Employment Information Cell and English Training Centers to enhance the scope of the Commission.

The Chairman SPSC hoped that such centers/cells, when established, will go a long way in facilitating the youth of our province in finding job even in private sector as well as improving their proficiency in English language.

The Chairman SPSC also acknowledged that the Commission has done its best to achieve the highest standards of honesty, transparency, efficiency, and merit-based selection and it will continue its endeavour to deliver its best in future.
