ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended the Sindh Election Tribunal decision and restored the membership of Pakistan Peoples' Party's member Sindh Assembly Ghulam Qadir Chandio from PS-27.
The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasir-Ul-Mulk comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Mushir Alam heard the Ghulam Qadir Chandio petition against Election Tribunal's decision for re-election in the constituency.
Declaring Chandio ineligible, ECP ordered re-elections in PS-27, Nawabshah.
Sindh United Party member Zainul Abedeen had challenged Chandio's membership of the provincial assembly and had filed a petition in the ECP.
The Supreme Court suspended the Election Tribunal decision for re-election in the PS-27. The court accepted his appeal and issued notices to respondents and adjourned hearing of the case for indefinite period.
