imagePESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak Sunday agreed in principal with merger of Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) and Sarhad Development Authority (SDA) and establishing new autonomous body named Industrial Facilitation Authority (IFA) for promotion of small and large scale industries in the province.

He was chairing a meeting about reviewing progress on decisions and measures for industrial development in the province at CM Secretariat here.

He expressed the confidence that the new authority on the pattern of developed countries will play key role in the development of small, medium and large scale industries in the province.

For this purpose, he said, the authority will be given clear tasks and targets.

Besides, administrative secretaries of industries, labour, law, planning & development and other concerned authorities and representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI), Special Assistant to CM on Industrial Development Abdul Monim Khan, Vice Chairman Board of Investment & Trade (BoIT) Mohsin Aziz, Principal Secretary to CM Mohammad Ishfaq Khan and Donors' Coordinator & Chairman CM Complaints' Cell, Haji Dilroz Khan also the meeting.

The Chief Minister also endorsed the consensus decision for taking four members from public sector and five from private sector for the structuring of Industrial Facilitation Authority (IFA) to enable it for independent legislation, decision making and disposing administrative affairs for achieving the set targets.

Similarly, he agreed that chairman of the Board of Directors instead of public sector would be hired from private sector to minimize government control in industrial growth in KPK.

The chief minister said that the government will take every decision and step for the revival of the dwindling industries and make industrial community happy and satisfied.

He said that in the prevailing difficult situation, industrialist community is a ray of hope for both government and poor people of the province.

He pledged that his government will leave no stone unturned in encouraging industrialist community.

He said that on the pattern of recently announced mineral policy, his government is also working on provincial industrial policy.

He clarified that all hurdles in way of industrial development will be removed at all costs.

He said that the decision of the merger of SIDB and SDA and other industrial organizations was taken in larger national interest to make it more attractive and energetic for industrialists, which he said is ample proof of the sincerity his government for industrial development in the province.

He also directed for making clear progress in the establishment of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and representation of local industrialists in this regard.
