LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Tuesday cancelled interim bail of a factory owner involved in a Rs 950 million gas theft case.
The single bench comprising Justice Ibad ur Rehman Lodhi was hearing the matter.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel Latif Khosa arguing before the court submitted that his client Tariq Aziz had obtained a gas connection for factory, Pak Paper and Hardboard Mill. But the police registered a baseless and fake case of gas theft against him, he added. He contended that the accused was being victimized on political grounds and pleaded the court to confirm his bail.
However, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines limited's counsel Rana Zia ul Islam Munj told the court that the accused was involved in gas theft. He said that electricity connection of accused's factory was disconnected in 2010 and since then to 2014, the accused was running factory on gas which was being stolen from main gas pipeline.
He contended that department had evidence against him and a sessions court had already rejected bail application of the accused.
He pleaded the court to cancel interim bail granted to the accused and dismiss his application.
The court after hearing arguments of both parties cancelled interim bail besides dismissing his bail application.
