ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday suspended the notification of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declaring Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Ludhianvi of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) as winner from Jhang NA-89.
The three-member bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Sheikh Muhammad Akram.
He had challenged the notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), declaring Ludhianvi as the winner after he (Akram) was disqualified for allegedly being a loan defaulter.
The bench, while suspending the ECP notice, issued notices to all the parties in the case.
