imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday said an amount of Rs 90 billion has been utilized against the annual development program (ADP) 2013-14 and this utilization makes 63 percent of the releases.

The rate of utilization of the development funds is better than other provinces, he said while addressing a meeting at the Chief Minister house to review performance of planning and development department with reference to the releases made by the Finance Department, said an official statement.

The chief minister directed the officials to expedite development work and ensure maximum utilization of annual development outlay of Rs 165 billion for provincial development scheme.

He said that compared to the past governments before 2008, PPP governments in Sindh have raised development budget up to 500 percent and have achieved considerable improvement in terms of releases and utilization of development funds and quality of work.

He said that it was also for the first time in the history of the country that his government has introduced the development strategy to release 100 percent of the allocated funds to the important and immediate nature of development schemes.

About 50 percent development schemes would be completed by the end of June 2014 through this strategy. He directed for completion of the on-going construction work of 34 kilometers Umerkot-Kunri road; for which Rs 65 million had already been released.

He also briefed on implementation status especially of the MPAs and MNAs priority schemes. He ordered for completion of these schemes on priority basis.

The Chief Minister also took serious notice of the delay in implementation on Sindh Government's gasification and village electrification programme by the concerned authorities.

He asked the Sindh chief secretary and his Advisor on Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah to coordinate with relevant authorities and get these schemes implemented.

Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Wasim Ahmed Khan, Principal Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar, Additional Secretary Finance, Director General Planning and Development and other officers attended the meeting.
